Throughout my years of using a DSLR cameras, multiple lens and lens filters I never had a lens filter get stuck on a lens. That all changed a few years back when I had a lens filter get jammed up on a $1000+ lens. I couldn’t get the filter off. I tried several different things. Eventually I was able to get it off with one of those rubber/silicon jar lid grabbers. It came off but I didn’t like doing it that way. The second time it happened, that didn’t work, and I ended up having to get a set of Neewer Lens Filter Wrenches 67mm-72mm. They worked great and took the filter off within seconds.

I’ve been using Neewer photography products for several years and been happy with these budget friendly products. So, when going through Amazon listing for the perfect set of wrenches, I came across the Neewer Lens Filter Wrenches, I had to get this set.
First Impressions and Usage
The wrenches came in a cheap plastic bag with small rubber bands to hold the wrenches together. The wrenches are made of metal coated in a non-slip/non scratching rubber coating. One wrench goes on the filter and other wrench is usually used for another filter size. Then unscrew the lens. The wrench gives you extra gripping strength in the area you need it.
Filter came off with ease. I found that the filter had some damage/debris in the threading. I was able to clean it up and it worked fine after that.
I’ve only used these wrenches a few times. I’ve used it to remove stuck filters and a polarizer filter that kept spinning on the spinning part and I couldn’t get the non-spinning part to loosen up.
For those times I have no plans to remove a filter during an outing I’m now using the Neewer Lens Filter Wrenches to tighten down the filter to keep it tight on the lens. It’s tad past hand tight. I do this mostly during long hikes when the camera sling has the camera bouncing at my side or at car shows were I’m walking a lot and don’t want to risk it falling off.
Keep in mind, you will only get a few uses out of them if the filters are stuck. As you work the filter free it may misshape the wrench, or the rubber coating tears at point you will need to replace the wrench. At $20, its far cheaper than replacing a lens or lens filter that was cross threaded or has some debris in the threads.
If you are in need of a good set of cheap Lens Filter Wrenches, then the Neewer Lens Filter Wrenches are a great option. Check them out today. They come in a variety of sizes. All you need to know is your lens size. By that I mean if your lens uses a 72mm lens filter then order a wrench set that will work with that size.
