Review: HUOTO Power Bank for Apple Watch

Back in September Amazon sent me the HUOTO Power Bank for Apple Watch to review. I’ve been curious about these types of chargers and know they work for Samsung Watches but haven’t had the chance to test one for Apple. Below you will find my results and thoughts on this product.

HUOTO Power Bank for Apple Watch – The Review

I tested the HUOTO Power Bank for Apple Watch using my wife’s Apple Watch SE. It’s the original generation SE version but worked great for the testing.

First Impressions

The charger comes in a basic white box with a drawing of the charger on it. Once opened, the charger is nicely packaged and shouldn’t be damaged during shipping.

Once out of the box I found the charger to be made well and isn’t much bigger than the OEM charging base. It fits nicely on a key chain and isn’t too heavy.

The case is true to the color. One side of the plastic has a leather loop so add a key ring (comes with a key ring). On the opposite side, you will find the USB-C port and power button. It also has an LED ring that lights up with a color code for charging status. On the top, you will find the charging base for the watch.

Usage

During my tests I found the charger to charge up the watch from 20% to 100% in about the same time period that the OEM cable charges the watch. I found that I generally get about 1 extra charge and a quarter charge for the next charge. Generally, we only need the charger as back up. So, 1 full charge is all that is needed and the quarter to half charge is enough to get my wife through the rest of the day.

It’s also useful for those days were you doing a lot of workouts, hiking or tracking other activities that can drain the battery fast. During breaks, the charger can be used for quick charge.

To start the charging process, make sure to press the button. I won’t start charging unless that button is pressed.

Charging the Charger

The charger comes with a cheap USB-C cable. Just get a cheap USB-C Wall charger and plug it in. It doesn’t take long. I never timed the charging. It takes about an hour maybe two hours at most.

It seems to hold a charge for a while. It hasn’t discharged in a month of nonuse.

Final Thoughts

Overall, I find the HUOTO Power Bank for Apple Watch to be a useful little charger. It’s perfect for putting it in a gear bag, gym bag, hiking bag or, a travel bag. I like it so much I plan to get my family these chargers as gifts.
