Eufy Lumos Smart Bulb – White – The Review

Since smart bulbs first came I’ve wanted to get my hands on a bulb or two see how useful they are. Then a few weeks ago Eufy gave me that opportunity by sending me the Eufy Lumos Smart Bulb – White to review.

The bulb came in the traditional light bulb style box that most LED bulbs come in. However Eufy upped the game by adding images of the bulb and gave a few more specs than most bulb boxes have on them.

The bulb was nicely packed and free of damage. It came with a Happy/Sad card and an instruction card. If you have any issues contact support they will help you out. At the bottom of the Eufy sales page is an FAQ section and below is supports contact info.

After pulling the package out, I noticed that plastic white bulb was not properly installed. I was able to see the LED and circuit boards. Everything looked good (I forgot to take pictures) so I put the cover back on. Once it clicked home I couldn’t remove the lid. It may be removable but I was afraid I would break the top.

I found the light bulb to be heavier and longer than a standard LED light bulb. It still fits in the socket. Just keep in mind it might stick out of the fixture a little. Scroll down the page to see the bulb installed in a ceiling fan light fixture.

How to Install the Eufy Lumos Smart Bulb – White

Next I installed the Eufy App for Android. If you have an iOS you can get their app from the Mac store.  I then created an account with Eufy Home. Since I have the Eufy Life app installed I was able to log in and pull its information to the home app.

I then installed the light bulb  to the socket and opened the app while connected to the WIFI network. The light bulb started to blink (setup mode) . At this point I was able to configure the light bulb.

If you do not have the space to keep this app, you can delete it once the bulb is configured, Then add it back when you need to make changes to the settings.

After you finish setting up your account, you will want to hit the plus button at the top of the app to add your device. On the next screen select the icon with Lumos White writing next to it. Click on the icon and you should be able to find your bulb. Once found, click on it and follow the instructions.

To configure the smart bulb, follow the instructions. You will able to configure on/off and how bright it is. Or you can turn it on and off from the app. You can create bulb groups to control multiple lights with the same settings.

If you turn off the bulb at the power switch, you will not be able to turn it or use the scheduler.

Everything works great, the schedule feature works and hasn’t missed turning on or off. Using the on/off works as well. Its a little slower than simply using the switch on the fixture. If an issues comes up, I will update the review.

Final Thoughts

I as mentioned before this is my first experience with smart bulb technology and I have to say I’m hooked on them. Since I replaced our house lighting with LED a few years ago I can’t go and replace them until they stop working. So as my LEDs go out I will replace them with smart bulbs.

As to the Eufy Lumos Smart Bulb – White its a great option. But I prefer Daylight colored bulbs and not the soft white bulb this one is. For us, we are using this particular bulb in our night light. We set the bulb to come on at 10 pm and go off around 3 am. This way on the nights I have to work late I can get ready for bed without turning on lights and disturbing my wife. The bulb is set for 1% and its just enough light that I can see objects and shapes in the room but not enough light that it keeps the wife up.

I highly recommend the Eufy Lumos Smart Bulb – White  and the other light bulbs offered by Eufy. I haven’t tried the other bulbs but the reviews say they work well. As of this writing, you can purchase the Eufy Lumos Smart Bulb – White  for $18.99. If you want color changing options or the option of daylight check out these options from Eufy.
