This week’s random image is of the front doors of a long time abandoned Valley View Rural High School in Valley View, Texas. This picture was taken with my telephoto lens from the fence line about 3 years ago.

Valley View Rural High School

Valley View Rural High School

There are a lot of Valley View, Texas communities. Many of them no longer exist. The little community near Paducah, Texas was once called Valley View, Texas. Today its nothing more than a fenced off ranch with an old church and Valley View Rural High School. This little town isn’t even listed in the Handbook of Texas.

Sadly, this community was wealthy enough to build a large brick school for the surrounding community but it faded away into history. I’ve asked around in Paducah and no one knows anything. At some point, I plan on visit on the town’s historic museum. When I was last there, the town’s historian was not in town but may know more about it or who to talk with.

About the Image

The image was shot by hand early afternoon on a sunny day. I used a Sony A6000 and with a Sony E 55-210mm F4.5-6.3 Lens from the fence line. I then edited the images with Adobe Lightroom CC and Topaz Labs Denoise AI and Topaz Labs Sharpen AI and DXO NIK Collection to clean up the image, remove noise, and recover the lost details.
