But I will continue to share a new one with my thoughts on the topic each week.

Killer Lightroom Tips for New Users #2: You Only Need One Catalog

Just Use One Adobe Lightroom Catalog

When I first started using Adobe Lightroom I was working for a photography company and I was assigned to edit a hundred images a day using Lightroom and Photoshop. Although I only worked from one of the catalogs, we had several active ones.

Looking back, I realized that having more than one catalog could be an issue and I can only think of a few reasons why you might more than one. But I do not want to mention those reasons right now.

What I will say is the latest version of both Photoshop and Lightroom is designed to be used with one catalog. It doesn’t matter if you have two hundred images in  your catalog or thousands, Lightroom can handle it. Besides adobe recommends using only one catalog.

As for my personal Lightroom usage, I have one catalog and see no reason for what I need to create another catalog. In my opinion having multiple catalogs can make things messy and might even cause unseen issues down the road.
