How to Convert an EU Power Plug to US Power Plug
Recently I came across an issue where GearBest sent me an electric toothbrush to test and remove but once opening the package I realized that the item came with a EU power plug. So GearBest quickly sent me a package of EU Power Plug to US Power Plug.
What’s funny is a few days later, I won a contest from one of my favorite mobile charging companies and when it arrived it also has an EU Power Plug.
Converting EU Power Plug to US Power Plug isn’t all that hard. All you have to do is purchase an adapter. You can buy adapters for almost every type of power plug. These adapters range from a few dollars to $2o or more. You really do not need the high end adapters. All you need is a pass through style adapter. By this, I mean you plug the EU end into the EU socket side of the adapter and plug the US end into the wall. The current just passes through. There may be more to this, but I’m not an electrics guy. I just know they work and they work well.
The more expensive ones may be more like a hub and have multiple EU plugs into a single adapter or they have surge protectors and other tech that may be useful.

They came in a clear plastic bag and a label telling me what’s in the bag. After opening the bag I was happy to see that the adapters are made well. They are light weight and have a plastic housing. The product material isn’t any different than a standard power plug.
First I tested both EU plugs to see if they would properly seat in the adapter. I found that they did. Its a nice fit and the plugs d0 not wiggle in the socket.
Next I plugged in the devices to see if they charged up and worked properly. I found they both turned on and charged normally! I left them plugged in charging. The toothbrush doesn’t pull a lot of power and I did not feel any warmth coming from the adapter.
Next I checked the wall charger by plugging in an old iPhone 4 into the wall charger and connected to the adapter and plugged it in. I checked a few hours later and then the next morning. No heat! The only heat was a slightly warm wall charger. These types of chargers can get warm when charging and the heat was in operating range that I have seen in other chargers.

I’ve been using my new set for about a week and think these will continue to be handy.
