Do Not Over Edit When Using Develop Module

Do Not Over Edit When Using Develop Module

One of the things I have noticed that many new users and I sometime fall for is over editing when using the Develop Module.  When you are dragging the sliders to the right (taking the sliders to far to the right) like the clarity and sharpen tools can give your images that over edited look or even a fake look.

The little advice I can give you is, less is better. I find that if you use clarity to much it can yellow your greens and add so much noise in the shadows that it looks fake. So what I do is push the slider to right and when it looks like it might be to much, then I slide it just a little back to the left making sure to keep the colors looking natural.

In Scott Kelby 8th installment of his 10 Things I would Tell a New Lightroom User 9: Don’t Turn Your Amp All The Way Up To 10! he gives advice and tips on why you do not want to over edit your images and how easy is it to over do it when using the Develop Module. Make sure to check out his article, his advice is worth the look and make sure to check out the current articles on Lightroom Killer Tips. There is a lot of great advice in those articles.
